Collingswood, New Jersey

Crafts and Fine Arts Festival

General Information
The Second Saturday and Sunday in August each year…
Forget the Shore! It’s the Collingswood Crafts and Fine Art Festival!

Once again in 2009, craft and fine artists from throughout the United States will gather in Collingswood under billowing tents to offer contemporary crafts in wood, ceramics, glass, metal and more for both home and garden. This juried show features hand-woven clothing, leather and exquisite jewelry, fine and fashion, available for purchase. Original watercolor, oil, collage and etched works are sold by fine artists while admirers of photography, in every style, will have a difficult choice to make.

The well-known Collingswood restaurant renaissance has added several exciting cuisines to café dining at the Festival: Italian specialties, delicious seafood, Asian-fusion delicacies, south-of-the border delights, crepes, gourmet sandwiches and even the all-American hot dog will be available! Attendees should leave room for dessert and tastes of Granny’s Kettle Corn, Lakes Almonds, smoothies and shaved Hawaiian ices. Nostalgic beverages are dispensed in “tin cups” from a not-to-be missed chuck wagon!

Entertainment includes smooth jazz and guitar strains perfect for summer strolling. A talented face painter and family art activities offered by All Fired Up pottery studio and Jubilee Beads, at their Haddon Avenue locations, will add to the fun for 2009.

A special highlight, the “Art of the Automobile” will be presented by Subaru of America. Award-winning new models will be available for close-up viewing.

Smart attendees will offer bids at the silent auction of fine art and craft works generously donated by the festival’s participating artists. Proceeds will benefit the worthy efforts of a charitable beneficiary.  Also, the KYWnewsradio and PATCO  tents will offer information and surprises!

PATCO, celebrating the 40th anniversary of PATCO Speedline train service, will sponsor a fascinating view of “Art in Action.”  The PATCO Train: Then and Now will be the imaginative subject for an artist rendering contest. In a medium of the artist’s choice, a work of art will be completed during the two days of the Festival by adult and young adult artists.

The works will be judged at 3 p.m. on Sunday of the Festival and cash prizes awarded. Perkins Center for the Arts will perform the judging and display the entries at the Perkins Art Center building in Collingswood following the Festival.

Extending the fun, Saturday of the festival is one of Collingswood’s monthly “Second Saturday” celebrations! Craft festival attendees can stay late (6 to 9 p.m.), dine at one of more than a dozen Collingswood restaurants, listen to live music and view the work of emerging artists throughout town.

Save the date - August 8 and 9 - to purchase art or a crafted gift, dine, create your own work of art, chill and have lots of fun at the coolest event of the summer: The Collingswood Crafts and Fine Art Festival!
