This is Town Watch!
We had an unfortunate crime occur in town that was solved the same day it occurred because of great police work assisted by an attentive resident. 1st Colonial National Bank was robbed on a Friday. As the robber fled the bank and ran up the street, a resident saw him, thought it suspicious because he jumped into the trunk of a waiting car that then sped away. This resident jotted down 4 digits of the Florida license plate.
Our detectives then used that information and, within hours, tracked the robbers to a motel where they were trying to wash the dye from the money. Arrests of the individuals who robbed 1st Colonial, and who appear to have robbed a number of other banks, was accomplished within hours because a resident observed something suspicious and made a note.
We're holding the resident's identity because of the sensitive nature of the investigation and criminal proceeding but we can all learn a lesson in good citizenship from our neighbor. Thank you to our resident and to our officers. Teamwork produced a great result after a serious crime. Thanks! Stay alert!
